When you moved to NYC in 2012, I moved to Silicon Allee (Berlin) andd that’s where my path as a founder really began. Reading your piece reminded me of what that kind of creative energy feels like. Dallas has been productive, but it’s not where the next chapter happens. I’m building a consumer product, and for that, proximity to energy, ambition, and collision matter. NYC is calling my name and this time, I’m answering. Appreciate the spark your post gave me.
We've been fortunate that our early investors were based in NYC, even as we were passed on by nearly everyone in SV. Everyone has talked about where the "next city" is going to be after SF and it's now obvious to me it's simply NYC. There's no city like it, and every time I'm back for a board meeting or to visit family, it's clear how special it is.
A story I wish I heard more often, both coasts have something immensely valuable to offer the world. Appreciated that you lightly seasoned this entry with some nostalgia.

Love the idea that when you are surrounded by the best in any profession you are pushed to be the best in your area of expertise.

NYC also makes it easier for in-person cultures which matters a ton for early days of startups
Well said.
